[법구경(法句經) 21 탐내지 않으면 죽지 않는다]   戒爲甘露道 放逸爲死徑 不貪則不死 失道爲自喪 계위감로도 방일위사경 불탐즉불사 실도위자상 계율은 감로의 길이고, 방일은 죽음의 길이니 탐내지 않으면 죽지 않고, 도를 잃으면 스스로 죽게 된다.   Vigilance* is the abode of eternal life,* thoughtlessness is the abode of death. Those who are vigilant (who are given to reflection) do not die. The thoughtless are as if dead already.   *Note: Vigilance의 原語 appamada. It is thoughtfulness, reflective attitude which is the root of all other virtues. Eternal life의 원어 amatam: skt. amrtam, deathless. This gives the negative side of nirvana which positively is the highest spiritual freedom.   게으르지 않음은 영원한 삶의 집이요, 게으름은 죽음의 집이다. 게으름을 모르는 사람은 죽음도 모를 것이고, 게으른 사람은 이미 죽음에 이른 것이나 마찬가지다.
